Nigel Power QC

Knowledgeable across the full spectrum of serious crime, Nigel Power QC exhibits notable strength in homicide cases, as well as large-scale fraud and criminal confiscations.

Nicholas Johnson QC

Has considerable experience as both prosecutor and defender in a broad range of serious criminal cases. He is particularly known for his ability to handle challenging homicide cases, including murder, gross negligence manslaughter and gangland executions. He is also instructed in cases concerning drugs, serious sexual offences and health and safety.

Demonstrates considerable expertise across a range of serious crime matters, in which he acts as both prosecution and defence counsel. He regularly acts in high-profile murder cases as well as complex drug offences.
Strengths: "A big name criminal barrister in Liverpool who has handled some of the biggest and most important cases on circuit and beyond."
Recent work: Acted in R v Clayton Williams, which concerned allegations of murder and attempted GBH.

 

Richard Pratt QC

Head of chambers who is skilled as both prosecution and defence counsel for a range of criminal matters. He is particularly experienced in crimes of violence, including assault, manslaughter and murder.

Jonathan Duffy

Ian Whitehurst

Experienced criminal advocate whose expertise in organised crime includes gang-related homicide, drug conspiracies, corruption, conspiracy to supply firearms and armed robbery. He also takes on cases concerning violent crimes and public disorder. He is equally adept at handling both prosecution and defence work.

Recent work: Acted for the prosecution in R v Thomas McDonough. This concerned death by dangerous driving and whether car modifications impaired the defendant's ability to drive properly.

Instructed in a raft of financial crime cases, such as those involving allegations of Ponzi schemes and advanced fee fraud. He also handles broader criminal cases such as those concerning allegations of homicide and sexual offences. His experience spans work as both a prosecutor and defence counsel.

Recent work: Acted for the defence in R v Matthews, a fraudulent trading case arising from the government's Green Deal energy scheme.

Regulatory crime specialist who regularly prosecutes health and safety cases involving non-fatal injuries and workplace deaths for the HSE, local authorities and other regulatory entities. His work stems from a broad range of sectors, including construction, nuclear, railway and munitions. He also represents defendants and appears at inquests.
