Steven Ball and Megan Cox secure convictions following a six week trial at Liverpool Crown Court concerning a conspiracy to import cannabis resin secreted inside ceramic pots of citronella candles imported into the UK from Spain and destined for an industrial unit in Bootle.

There were three shipments organised in 2023.  The first shipment was thought to be a dummy run and contained chalk and no drugs.  The second and third shipments soon followed.   Border force intercepted the third shipment at Tilbury docks and the haul was over 188 kilograms – said to be worth in the region of £1.5 million.

Three men were convicted by the jury this week and another man pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing.  Two men were acquitted.  The court will determine the likely weight of the second shipment before sentencing next month.  Instructed by CPS, Liverpool.
