Death of premature baby allegedly attacked by Lucy Letby ‘potentially avoidable’

A doctor who conducted a review told a jury the tiny infant may have survived had mother been moved to a specialist maternity unit to deliver the baby

Consultant neonatologist Dr Srinrasaro Babarao agreed the outcome for the poorly newborn, referred to as Child K, may have been better had she been moved from the Countess of Chester Hospital.

Under cross-examination by Ben Myers KC, representing Letby, the witness agreed that the infant was a ‘very sick little girl’ who x-rays showed had severe lung disease, low blood pressure, low oxygen levels, low blood sugar levels, kidney problems and a low blood platelet count.
