Mr Knagg has a wide experience of claims where injury has been caused: workplace claims, public liability claims, road traffic accident claims and clinical negligence.  He is regularly instructed in claims of significant value and complexity with a caseload including claims involving catastrophic injuries.  He is instructed by both claimant’s and insurer clients. He has instructed to represent parties at both JSM’s and at mediation. He regularly accepts instructions on interlocutory matters, including cost case management hearings in multitrack claims. Mr Knagg can be trusted to adhere to time requirements in producing pleadings, advices and related paperwork and is skilled in advising on those technical and tactical matters inherent in litigation.

Road Traffic Accident claims: he has a broad practice for both claimants and insurer clients in all forms of RTA work, including major, multi-party collisions, motor-cycle accidents, cyclist actions, accidents involving pedestrians, LVI allegations (both claimant and defendant), fraud allegations (claimant and defendant), credit hire and MIB claims.

Employers Liability: he has a broad range of experience in this field of work garnered over nearly 30 years of receiving instructions in this type of action in varying degrees of complexity.

Public / Occupiers Liability: Mr Knagg is regularly instructed to act in actions involving injury on the public highway concerning both local authorities and land-owners.  He has also successfully pursued actions alleging breach of the Occupiers Liability Acts (1957 and 1984) against local authorities, schools, shops, restaurants and office premises.

Clinical negligence: he has a broad experience in pursuing claims involving negligent treatment including claims concerning clinical consent, plastic surgery, negligent surgery and negligent clinical advice.  Actioans have been successfully pursued against various NHS Trusts and GP’s.

Training & seminars

Mr Knagg has provided training and seminars to solicitors on a wide range of topics, including: litigation basics & case preparation, how to run a claim where allegations of fraud / LVI are made, Part 36 offers, how to draft a witness statement, credit hire and highway tripping claims.

He has also participated in a mock trial event on behalf of an NHS Litigation Department within the North-West.

Practice Overview

Mr Knagg initially qualified as a solicitor in 1993 having undertaken articles with Hill Dickinson Solicitors.  He subsequently joined John A Behn Twyford & Co, a respected, long established firm of solicitors in Liverpool, instructed by two national trade unions.  During his time with the firm he specialised in personal injury claims, primarily work-related accidents and occupational disease claims.  He became a partner with the firm before transferring to the Bar in 2005.

He was called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn in 2005 and practices in a wide field or personal injury matters, accepting instructions from Claimants and Defendants.

He is trusted to offer sensible, practical advice, both on paper and in person and is skilled in his ability to communicate with clients and other professionals on complex matters, in a straightforward manner.
