Practice Overview

Mr Bramhall joined Chambers in September 2020 after successfully completing pupillage under the supervision of Mr Fraser Lindsay. Prior to joining Chambers, Mr Bramhall volunteered for various non-profit organisations.

During pupillage, Mr Bramhall was exposed to all areas of common law and has now consolidated his practice to focus solely on crime. Mr Bramhall regularly prosecutes and defends in a wide range of matters in varying complexity in the Magistrates’ and Crown Court. Recent cases involve serious violence, firearms, drugs, and sexual offences.

Mr Bramhall has experience as disclosure junior in complex cases involving voluminous material.

Notable/Recent Cases

Prosecution:

 

  • R v L [2024] – Trial resulting in a conviction for rape, sexual assault, strangulation, controlling/coercive behaviour for which the Defendant received an 18-year custodial sentence.
  • R v M [2024] – S.18 grievous bodily harm trial resulting in an 8-year custodial sentence after trial.
  • Operation Backbone [2024] – Prosecuted a 5-handed drugs conspiracy and firearms case for which the main Defendant received a 9-year custodial sentence.
  • R v W [2021] – Child abduction trial resulting in a conviction and a 4-year custodial sentence.
  • Operation Ector [2023] – Disclosure junior involved multiple victims and misconduct in a public offence.
  • Operation Melanite [ongoing] – Junior in a multi-handed county lines drugs conspiracy.
  • Operation Vinci [ongoing] – Junior in a drugs conspiracy involving more than 20 Defendants.

 

Defence:

 

  • R v C [2024] – Acquittal of rape and 2 offences of assault by penetration after trial.
  • R v H [2024] – Acquittal of aggravated burglary, attempted robbery, affray and possession of a bladed article after trial.
  • R v H [2022] – Suspended sentence of 12 months’ custody in a case involving production of indecent videos of a minor; starting point as per Sentencing Guidelines is 6 years.
  • R v J [2022] – Acquittal of witness intimidation after trial.
  • R v C [2021] – Acquittal of s.20 actual bodily harm after trial involving an alleged fight in a nightclub.
  • R v C [2021] – Acquittal of a Defendant who was tried in their absence.

 

Mr Bramhall has also appeared in the Divisional Court in a case involving the extension of custody time limits (The King on the application of Onasis Mensah v Crown Court At
