Commercial / Chancery

Recent work includes:

  • Trial Counsel for the First and Fourth Defendants in the High Court case of Manolete Partners PLC v Ebrahim Dalal & others [2022] EWHC 1597: Claim against Defendants for a sum of c.£10m related to alleged cash extractions from a Company. Claim against the First Defendant reduced to c.£25k and the claim against the Fourth Defendant dismissed.
  • Junior Counsel for the Respondent in the Court of Appeal case of Manolete Partners PLC v Ebrahim Dalal [2023] EWCA Civ 26
  • Represented the wife of a Russian Oligarch in the High Court (Family Division) in injunctive proceedings in relation to over £17m of assets
  • Advised a major UK group on the legality of Police licensing laws
  • Successful application in the High Court for permission to act as a director notwithstanding a 7 year directors disqualification period
  • 5 day County Court trial in respect of alleged breach of trust relating to a property purchase
  • 2 day trial relating to alleged harassment
  • Numerous trials relating to Solar Panel Mis-selling litigation and Payment Protection Insurance litigation
  • Drafted a contract relating to the provision of funds for a charity project
  • Drafted a contract relating to the purchase of work and transfer of data
  • Advice on the terms of an insurance contract where the insurer sought to avoid the policy on a £250k claim
  • Advice relating to a property dispute and a land grab whereby the other party moved their border to claim more land
  • Professional negligence of solicitors relating to the under settlement of financial matrimonial proceedings
  • Professional negligence of architects relating to building failures
  • Professional negligence of surveyors relating to overvaluation of property and/or a failure to notice structural flaws in a building
  • Dispute as the quality of a vehicle purchased
  • Claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Families and Dependants) Act 1975 for financial provision
  • TOLATA claims relating to alleged resulting / constructive trusts
  • Claim in trust relating to the beneficial ownership of a Company

Personal Injury

Emma undertakes the full spectrum of personal injury work, including road traffic, employer’s liability, public liability, industrial disease, clinical negligence, negligence relating to cosmetic treatments.

Whilst she does concentrate her practise on Multi Track work (with many of her instructions being in respect of claims worth above £100k, and a number above £1million) she does undertake work for both Claimants and Defendants in both the upper Fast Track and Multi Track brackets.

Emma fully understands and appreciates the difficulties facing personal injury solicitors and is always happy to assist her solicitors in any way that she can.

Awarded the Baron Dr Ver Heyden De Lancey award from Middle Temple for the Highest Graduating Student (given the student graduating on the BVC with the highest score)

Awarded the Linda Sykes Memorial Prize from the University of Northumbria at Newcastle for the Best Graduating Student (given to the student graduating from the Bar Exempting degree with the highest average mark).

Training

Emma regularly gives training by way of seminars in-house at solicitor’s firms. She is willing to provide fully bespoke training on whatever subject area the client requires.
