Kate, since her call to the Bar in 1999, initially practised on the Western Circuit and since 2003 has been based on the Northern Circuit. With 22 years experience Kate is not only a strong advocate but also a sound adviser on matrimonial and civil matters.
Kate has a wealth of experience in advising spouses in relation to their financial settlement during the divorce process. She has acted for high net worth individuals, professionals, high profile individuals, family business owners and farm owners. Kate undertakes all aspects of work involved in financial remedy claims such as advising at the outset of claim, inherited assets, 3rd party claims, maintenance pending suit applications, section 37 applications, complex variations and difficult enforcements, through to final hearings. With a civll background Kate is an expert advisor in 3rd party claims.
Kate also undertakes cases pursuant to Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989 for unmarried parents to claim financial provision for their children.
Kate acts at all levels of proceedings from District Judge to the complex financial remedy level of the High Court.
Kate’s financial remedy practice is complemented by work in the civil courts advising and representing cohabiting couples in TLATA claims. Kate advises in estoppel and equitable accounting claims. Kate has expertise in advising on prospects of success, drafting pleadings, case management hearings and representation throughout the process to trial.
Kate regularly lectures on her specialist topics to other professionals alone or with colleagues. She has provided SRA accredited training to solicitors.
