“Alternative Dispute Resolution (particularly mediation) has a vital role to play in reducing the costs of civil disputes by fomenting the early settlement of cases. Alternative Dispute Resolution is however under used. Its potential benefits are not as widely known as they should be”.
Review of Civil Litigation Costs: Final Report by Sir Rupert Jackson 14th January 2010 Chapter 36.
As part of it’s continuing commitment to the provision of the widest possible range of legal services 7 Harrington Street Chambers has now established an Alternative Dispute Resolution Group through which it will be able to provide a broad range of services to promote alternative resolutions to disputes rather than through contested litigation. Such includes mediation, arbitration and early neutral evaluation. It will offer these services across the broadest range of litigation areas and such will be tailored to the particular requirements and resources of the individual case. Such services will be provided either within Chambers or at appropriate venues throughout the country; if necessary and appropriate such can be provided by telephone or on paper.
7 Harrington Street Chambers believes that Alternative Dispute Resolution particularly mediation can enable parties to achieve a satisfactory resolution of many disputes including personal injury claims and has significant benefits in terms of cost saving for example to small businesses.
