Pupillage Applications - Currently on Hold
PUPILLAGE UPDATE: JULY 2020
Chambers is disappointed to announce that it is unable to offer pupillage with a start date in September 2020. Sadly, due to the social distancing measures which Chambers have had to implement to meet the current COVID crisis it has not been possible to meet the planning/organisational requirements for a 2020 application process. It is the current intention of Chambers to invite applications in the Autumn of 2020 for pupillage with a start date in September 2021. Further information will be provided via Chambers website and Twitter page in September/October 2020.
Chambers attach great importance to training and recruitment, and our aim is to provide a broad based practical education to those who undertake pupillages here.
Our general policy is that pupils are taken on with a view to tenancy, so the selection and timing of pupillages is dependent on current needs and available work. We try to ensure that a pupil is given an opportunity to develop a practice during the second six stage and in early years of tenancy. As such we endeavour to maintain a flexible policy towards policy which is regularly under review.
The pupillage advertised is for commencement in September 2020 for a mixed pupillage civil/crime/family.
During the second six stage, a pupil can expect to receive a regular flow of work. The hard working and dedicated will quickly learn that a good attitude backed by solid training brings work in.
Our policy is that a funded pupillage will be no less than the minimum award recommended by the Bar Council. The pupillage award will take the form of a grant for the first six months of pupillage and a guarantee as to fees earned from instructions received in the second six months of pupillage.
The timetable for applications is:
