Chambers attach great importance to training and recruitment, and our aim is to provide a broad based practical education to those who undertake pupillages here.
Our general policy is that pupils are taken on with a view to tenancy, so the selection and timing of pupillages is dependent on current needs and available work. We try to ensure that a pupil is given an opportunity to develop a practice during the second six stage and in early years of tenancy. As such we endeavour to maintain a flexible approach towards policy which is regularly under review.
The pupillage advertised is for commencement in September 2025 for a mixed pupillage Civil/Crime/Family.
During the second six stage, a pupil can expect to receive a regular flow of work. The hard working and dedicated will quickly learn that a good attitude backed by solid training brings work in.
We encourage and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds.
Application Process
7HS manages its own pupillage application process, independent of the Pupillage Gateway. To apply, you must use our specific application form.
Successful applicants will first be invited to a first-round interview. Those advancing to the second round will be contacted shortly thereafter. We strive to extend pupillage offers promptly once decisions are finalised.
Funding
Our policy is that a funded pupillage will be no less than the minimum award recommended by the Bar Council. The pupillage award will take the form of a grant for the first six months of pupillage and a guarantee as to fees earned from instructions received in the second six months of pupillage.
Mini Pupillages
MINI PUPILLAGE APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED.
Mini Pupillages Grant Scheme
Lincoln’s Inn have launched a Mini Pupillage Grant Scheme.

The value of each grant is calculated based on the applicant’s anticipated expenses up to a maximum of £500.
Applicants do not need to members of Lincoln’s Inn and must meet certain social mobility based criteria to be eligible for a grant. More details including all of the application criteria and application form can be found on this page Applications are open all year round.
